In-Person Therapy for High Achievers in Chestertown, Maryland

A different setting.
A new perspective.

Whether you feel most comfortable in a quiet, welcoming office or spending time outdoors, in-person therapy offers a chance to step away from the demands of everyday life and focus on what matters to you.

Explore the two ways we can work together in Chestertown:

In-office therapy in chestertown, md

You may be the person who is used to holding it together.

At work, at school, in your profession, on the field, or for your family—you are capable, responsible, and often the person others depend on.

But being high functioning doesn't mean everything feels okay.

You may be struggling with perfectionism, anxiety, overthinking, irritability, procrastination, the need for control, or the exhausting feeling that you should always be doing more.

I provide in-person therapy in Chestertown, Maryland for high achievers who want to understand what is underneath the pressure to perform.

Many of the people I work with are professionals, clinicians, athletes, college students, veterans, first responders, individuals in the performing arts, and people in leadership roles.

My Chestertown office provides a private space to step away from the roles and expectations you carry and focus on what is happening underneath them.

Therapy isn't about lowering your standards or becoming less driven.

It's about helping you understand when achievement, responsibility, and high standards have become connected to anxiety, fear, guilt, anger, or your sense of worth.

My office serves adults and college students in Chestertown, Kent County, and surrounding Eastern Shore communities, including those attending or working near Washington College.

You can be successful and still need a place where you don't have to perform.

Walk-n-Talk therapy in chestertown, md

Room to move. Space to think.

It really is what it says—we walk and talk.

Walk-N-Talk Therapy offers an alternative to traditional office-based therapy by taking our session outside and walking together through areas of Chestertown.

For some people, sitting across from a therapist in a quiet office feels comfortable.
For others, it can feel confined, intense, or simply unnatural.

Walking side-by-side can feel different.

Movement can create a sense of freedom and make conversation feel more natural.

You don't have to sit still, maintain eye contact, or feel like you need to have the “right” thing to say. For high achievers who spend much of their lives thinking, analyzing, performing, and managing responsibilities, walking can provide another way to slow down mentally while still allowing the body to move.

How is Walk-N-Talk therapy different from traditional therapy?

The therapeutic work is still therapy. What changes is the environment.

Instead of sitting together in my Chestertown office, we walk at a comfortable pace while we talk. This can be especially helpful for people who feel restless in confined spaces, think more clearly while moving, spend much of their day behind a desk, or simply feel more comfortable talking when they aren't sitting face-to-face with someone.

This isn't exercise or a workout. There is no pace you need to maintain and nowhere we need to “get.”

We walk. We talk. And we allow the therapeutic work to unfold along the way.

What about privacy?

Because Walk-N-Talk Therapy takes place in the community, there are different confidentiality considerations than there are inside a private therapy office.

We will discuss these considerations together before beginning. If we encounter other people during our walk, we can momentarily pause our conversation and resume once we have passed them. We can also discuss ahead of time how you would like us to respond if we encounter someone you know.

Weather will always be considered. When conditions don't make walking appropriate or comfortable, we can discuss meeting in the office instead.

Walk-N-Talk Therapy is available in Chestertown, Maryland, for clients who want the benefits of psychotherapy in a setting that feels a little less confined—and perhaps a little more freeing.
