therapy for high-Performing Professionals in chestertown
AND THROUGHOUT MARYLAND

You’re not falling apart. You’ve just been carrying too much for too long.

I help high performers carry less without becoming less.

You are not fragile.
You are carrying more than most people can see.

You are a high performer. You deliver under pressure. Others rely on you because you stay composed when it matters most.

Competence has never been the problem. It has been the solution.

But the very traits that make you effective may now be asking too much of you.

You were trained to stay alert, decisive, and in control when others panic.

What that training did not teach you is how to stand down when the situation ends,
especially at home, in relationships, or with the people who matter most.

Over time, your system may continue operating as if the pressure is still there.

And the cost does not usually look like collapse.

  • It looks like tension that never fully releases.

  • Irritability that shows up at home.

  • Difficulty resting, even when nothing is wrong.

At some point, the cost of always being the strong one becomes harder to ignore.

Meet JoLynn Bunting, LCPC, NCC

I work with highly capable people who are accustomed to responsibility.

Many are medical professionals, athletes, college students, clinicians, veterans, first responders, business professionals, those in the performing arts, and individuals in leadership roles.

They are used to functioning under pressure, staying composed, and carrying weight without complaint.

They are not falling apart.

But internally, something feels off.

I help you understand why success has not brought the steadiness or sense of relief you expected, and how to create a way of functioning that is more sustainable.

My Specialties

What working together changes

The work we do is not about becoming a different person.

It is about functioning differently within the life you already have.

Over time, clients often notice:

  • the ability to stand down internally without losing effectiveness

  • less chronic tension and reactivity

  • more flexibility in how they respond to pressure

  • improved connection in relationships

  • a more sustainable relationship with responsibility

This does not happen all at once.

But it builds in a way that lasts.

My work integrates psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy with evidence-based approaches, and is informed by mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and principles of interpersonal neurobiology.

This is not therapy that treats you as fragile.

It is grounded, psychologically informed work that respects discipline, intelligence, and complexity.

We are not focused on quick fixes or surface-level strategies.

Instead, we look at how patterns of responsibility, control, and self-reliance were formed, and how they continue to organize your internal experience.

Sessions are:

  • direct and focused

  • thoughtful and reflective

  • grounded in real life, not just theory

I will meet you with steadiness and clarity.

I will also challenge patterns that no longer serve you.

I meet intensity without flinching.
